Purpose
The Climate Change Adaptation Project is designed to shape the way decision makers respond to climate change and its impacts.
- The project first identified a list of potential challenges related to the impacts of climate change on Canadian society and the economy and presented them to a multidisciplinary and cross-sector committee of experts. The Adaptation Advisory Committee is composed of representatives from academia, government, business, First Nations, the legal community and NGOs
- The committee identified six critical challenges that decision makers must address as it relates to climate change adaptation
For each of these six challenges, experts conducted detailed analysis to determine and recommend adaptation actions that will limit the impacts of climate change. These recommendations will be published in a concise report that describes the actions that decision makers can take to protect Canadians
The project’s network of respected and influential leaders will support the implementation of these recommendations through a series of organized meetings with the Canadian government, business trade associations, First Nations and NGOs
