I grew up in Markham, Ontario back in the days when it was still fields and farmland, and then moved on to the University of Guelph where I completed a Bachelor of Commerce, specializing in marketing. My masters (UW) and doctoral studies (Griffith) focused on environmental management in the airline industry. My interest in motivations for corporate greening has evolved into researching motivations and barriers individuals face with respect to residential energy efficiency. Using the concepts of social marketing, my current research focuses on examining ways to encourage behavioural change with regards to sustainability issues. My home department is the School of Environment, Enterprise and Development (SEED), but I am also affiliated with the department of Environment & Resource Studies. Wearing these various hats, I see my role here to promote environment and social responsibility amongst the business community and to encourage those interested in environmental issues to be business-savvy. I am affiliated with the Waterloo Institute for Sustainable Energy and am on the Board of Directors for Waterloo Region Green Solutions (REEP). My areas of research include:
